The Watcher's Council

Watchers and Slayers must report somewhere, and that somewhere is the Watcher's Council. The Watchers Council
has in fact not been around as long as Watchers have, though almost as long.
Located in London, and built centuries ago, The Watcher's Council resides on the far end
of Great Russell Street, a busy downtown London road. They conduct most business on the
Fourth Floor and leaving the other floors and rooms for dens, studies, offices, and shrines
to past Slayers and Watchers. Guarded by heavy magic, as well as being well armed with any
form of weapon available, the Watcher's Council is seemingly un penetrable. Here, important meetings, and research are
done regarding the current Slayer and the battles ivolving the Watchers. The Council
itself has only fallen victim to three attacks, surviving two in 1940. They were invaded by the Vampires
Spike and Drusilla when a young member unknowingly invited them inside. Several months later they were
attacked through a loophole portal by the Ice Demon Skrymir. During this time, the current SITs were under the Council's protection after an attack had been made on the Slayer line.
Almost every Watcher and Slayer in Training was killed, leaving less than ten left to carry on. The third and lasting attack occurred in 2003. Yet another attack had been made on thr Slayer line
but this time by the First Evil, a more formidable opponent than Skrymir. Not waiting for the Council to foil the plans, almost immediately after the first of the SITS had been murdered, the Watchers
Council was blown up with all but the Watchers on the field inside. This included the current head of the Council Quentin Travers.
The fate of the Watchers inside is uncertain, but they likely met their demise. The watcher's Council did reform itself with all new members, some brought in from their Watcher training, and some were retired members who were called back in.
It is a misconception that the Watcher's Council picks the next Slayer. This is entirely untrue. Though the Shaman who became the Watchers gave the original Slayer her power, The Watcher's Council
cannot just dole out super powers to the girl they see fit. If this were true, things would run far differently. The Watcher's Council does NOT know ahead of time who the next Slayer will be. With a team
of seers, and powerful Witches, they can spot the likely candidate of the SITs. They try to seek out possible Slayers as early as possible to assign them a Watcher, train them, teach them and inform their destiny
so that in case the time does come for them, they are prepared and can begin their duty right away. Often Slayers are not discovered until they are chosen, such as the case with Mollie Prater, India Cohen, Buffy Summers,
and many others. Though some left their parents at birth to follow their destiny such as Kendra, Thessily, and Marie Christine DuLac.
