A Girl and her Obsession

I am a nerd. I have a fascination with not only Slayers but history, so this is a great and fun hobby for me. It is a passion, it is something I love and I won't let anyone give me a hard time for it. I began researching slayers about 5 years ago and have been doing it ever since. A Slayer is Born was the first site I ever opened and it was a geocities site until 2003 when I bought my domain. It went through several changes but the original layout looked like this. I was new to graphics and coding but I had so much research stockpiled that I had to do something about it. I'm not exactly sure what versions came after that one but I do know that the last version before I moved the site had this header. One of the first friends that I made through my research and the person who actually inspired me to open a site was Azmir who runs VSGoth (Vampire Slayers, Guardians of the Hellmouth). After we shared info, pics, and he gave me some tips on webdesigning I went ahead and opened up A Slayer is Born in early 2001.

Although Buffy and Angel have both ended, the Slayer lineage lives on through books, and comics and I am always there to research a new girl. Here are some pictures of my slayer folder. Yes, I am serious.

As you can see, a large part of my research is handwritten and I have pages upon pages of scribbled, jotted, and highlighted pages of notebook paper. Though I do run a site for my wallpapers and it is updated more frequently than this one, this site is my baby. Truly it is my pride and joy. It has a very special place with me and always will.

Here are some other nerds and their Slayer obsessions. I have the utmost respect for the following people because they do all of their own research, scan their own pics, write their own slayer fic, draw slayer pictures, and/or are jut as crazy as I am for the chosen ones. We are dorks. We are obsessed. And we are proud of it.
