Version 1 - The Key (2002 - 2004)
The very first layout of Reflection was featuring Michelle Trachtenberg as Dawn Summers. This layout was put up on a geocities site which doesn't exist anymore, and was named for a favorite song of mine by Twiztid. It was my 3rd site, and the first one I was really proud of. There were only 4 sections, wallpapers, updates, a disclaimer, and the main page which was just a brief summary of the site. It basically said, I am Amber, here are my wallpapers, don't steal them. Yes. Thrilling. I know. I was a little brush happy back then, and it shows in the layout. This layout stayed up for 2 years because I didn't really work on my portfolio much back then. It was up from the time I opened Reflection until I bought my domain in 2004.
Version 2 - Miss Congeniality (May 5th, 2004 - June 2004)
The 2nd version of Reflection and the first version on hideous-beauty.com. I used frames and tables on this version and worked very hard to make it look the way it did. Probably too hard since there are a billion easier ways to make this layout which I know now but didn't then. This version features Courtney Love in her trademark Kinderwhore look. This one didn't stay up long but is special to me because it opened up my portfolio on this domain.
Version 3 - Five Years of Angel (June 2004)
I put up this layout to commemorate the ending of Angel the Series. I don't have a picture of it but rest assured it wasn't that great of a layout. Just a blend of all of the main characters over the years, and it was up less than a month.
Version 3.5 - Amy Acker (June 2004 - August 2004)
I really loved this layout, I don't know why it wasn't up longer. It featured Amy Acker in a photoshoot I just fell in love with. I love the colors, love the brushes, love the whole setup. It was SO practical and maybe made up for the impracticality of my next layout.
Version 4 - Restless (August 6th, 2004 - September 2nd 2004)
I did this layout on a whim and was trying out my first experiment with division layers. It's sorta all over the place but I love the graphic and the colors. I could've done it way better cause it looks sorta janky. Also, it loaded far too slowly because I had a huge update section on one side and had not yet discovered the simple notion of making thumbnails rather than making the wallpaper itself smaller which everyone knows loads at the same rate. I was dumb. heheheh.
Version 5 - Benedict Bitch (September 2nd 2004 - September 22nd 2004)
This version is just a recolor basically of the last one. It features Kathryn Mertueil from Cruel Intentions, one of my favorite movies of all time. Same thing as the last one, loaded too slowly, and I always thought the graphic looked sorta squished and I hated the font I used. It drove me crazy so it wasn't up for very long.
The caps of the next few layouts were lost over the years sadly...
Version 6 - No Power in the Verse (September 22nd - October 13th 2004)
Nothing too special. Sorta a sloppy layout, with a graphic of River Tam from Firefly.
Version 7 - Fear Itself (October 13th 2004 - November 2nd 2004)
A Halloween layout that used the same colors and setup as the River layout, just with a different graphic from the Buffy episode Fear Itself.
Version 8 - Happy Holidays: SMG (December 2004)
I was SO IN LOVE with this layout. It was a large graphic of SMG on one side made from this picture. The menu was red and green and it was just adorable all around. I wish I had a picture of it...
Version 9 - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (January 2005 - February 2005)
This one went up for about a month because I had to throw something up to get rid of the SMG layout after the holidays which I was devastated by cause I loved that one and I didn't really like this one.
Version 10 - Labyrinth (February 2005)
This one went up because I went through a 2 week phase where I was obsessed with the Labyrinth soundtrack, and that's about how long this layout lasted.
Version 11 - Claire: Lost (March 2005 - November 2005)
I loved this one when I put it up and grew to hate it because a week after I did, my computer completely shut down and I was without a computer for 8 months and unable to obviously update. So, of course I wished there were a better layout stuck up there for almost a year.
Version 12 - Baby Firefly (November 28th - March 31st 2006)
This should have been my triumphant return to my portfolio but I was so rusty that I made a subpar layout just to get that damn Claire one off of there. Either way, it featured Sheri Moon Zombie as Baby Firefly in The Devil's Rejects and I really did like the graphic aside from the yellowness of it.
Version 13 - Needy (March 31st - April 16th 2006)
This one was actually a breakdown of a Spuffy wallpaper I had made that I just loved. It is a scene from As You Were that I have always liked because of the neediness in Buffy's voice. I tired of it pretty quickly though and was sick and tired of the browns and wanted more color.
Version 14 - Harley Quinn (April 16th - June 8th 2006)
This one was a nice change from anything I had before, just a simple white, red, and black layout with my favorite comic character Harley Quinn. I loved the setup, the graphic, everything about this one and kept it for some time.
Version 15 - Pleasantville (June 8th 2006 - September 19th 2006)
I'm not even sure why I did this one. I was going through a screencap site trying to get ideas for a layout and when I saw how pretty the Pleasantville caps were I just couldn't stop myself. I went through a lazy period with this layout and left it up for sometime, until I finally gained enough motivation to change the colors and graphic to the next layout which isn't much different.
Version 16 - SLC Punk (September 19th 2006 - November 6th 2006)
This used to be one of my very favorite movies and my friends and I watched it all the time. I loved the caps of Matthew Lillard and so I couldn't resist. It's really just a recolor of the last layout but hey, it's a change of scenery atleast.
Version 17 - No Power in the Verse the 2nd (November 6th 2006 - December 23rd 2006)
This one was a remake of an old layout that I really loved that I made a couple of years ago but I knew could be done far better. Also, I recently rewatched Firefly and I figured a new version of the old River layout might be fun especially since that one got knocked down after a couple weeks for a Halloween layout.
Version 18 - SMG goes POP! (December 23rd 2006 - March 7th 2007)
I did this layout completely at random one night. I set out to do a christmas/new years theme and ended up going pop art with it. I had only recently really gotten the gist of pop art and I absolutely ADORED this layout the entire time it was up. Loved the colors, loved the pictures, loved the setup. It was a simple table with 3 sections, but looked so nice and neat and worked nicely on any internet browser. But it was time for a change after 3 months.
Version 19 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 (March 7th, 2007 - May 17th, 2007)
I decided to do this layout because I had come across a high quality adobe reader file of the first issue of Buffy Season 8, and was too excited to contain it. Plus, I needed a new layout, so I went ahead and made this one. As far as menu style, the comic boxes and text are some of my favorite I've ever done in a layout. But I hate the colors. I don't know what exactly I was thinking making it tan and blue, but whatever. It was still a really fun layout.
Version 20 - Veronica Mars Pilot (May 17th, 2007 - August 21st, 2007)
I found out Veronica Mars was being cancelled and was absolutely devastated. I was hoping they would atleast let them finish out the season. I began feeling very nostalgic for the early days of VM, so I came up with this layout. The colors (pink and green) were also of a special significance representing my boyfriend and I, so the whole thing was special to me.
